Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Here's a moral question from my bike club:

"…look for someone in Watopia who’s been riding for ca. 12km in more than 80 minutes – and join them! Chances are you’ll join them at the top of the Alpe and can bank almost 250XP on the descent before putting in any real effort. You could always double check their location as spectator before joining.
The ethics of joining at the summit may be questionable, but ethics aside it would be easy XP."

They compared the above to Cam Jeffers emulator case zwiftinsider.com

Which interestingly wasn't a specific British Cycling offence more a general misconduct issue to strip him of his tille:

"For the purposes of these Disciplinary Rules, ‘Misconduct’ means any conduct that is unsporting and/or has the potential to bring the sport of cycling, other Participants, Race Officials or British Cycling into disrepute."

dcrainmaker.com

DC Rainmaker noted "As you can see, in the actual title itself it’s debatable whether he cheated. On one hand he used a bike he had not earned, on the other hand, there wasn’t a specific rule against that, despite what British Cycling states in their press release. Which isn’t me defending Cam (trust me, we’ll get to that in a second). Instead, British Cycling basically uses more generic rules to find him at fault."

He coninues: "To me, that’s a wee bit more than just padding one’s account to meet the 50,000 meters climbed goal (something that realistically Cam could have probably easily done anyway in normal riding). What he did was going well out of his way to cheat. He used various tactics to hide his location (or potentially enrolled friends in other locations), he faked his weight, and went to un-human wattage level-durations and distance. Atop all that, he cleverly discarded the rides so others wouldn’t notice. By doing exceedingly high wattage rides with a low weight, he’d be able to very efficiently rack up the required amounts, with less time on the platform for someone to notice."

Thoughts?

I’m not as engaged in the gaming side of Zwift, so my response to cheating like this is ‘you’re only cheating yourself’.

There is no question or dilemma.

How and why are people so bothered in a game?

Have been lapped a few times by people doing about 180mph , makes me laugh and think about people desperate to unlock stuff in a game.

I'm climbing Everest on zwift but only in the hope of good wheels I will never use the tron bike. It's not real and as much as zwift is not real i want to be on a bike.

The cheaters never bothered me as I never raced, but have started to do a few virtual TTs with club mates etc.

Quite a shock to find some of them, 2 in particular, cheating and giving me a right kicking which they never could on the road.

I refuse to drop my weight to 61 or 66kg just to even the field. I’m taking my medicine and using it as motivation. Not only do I want to give them a right shoeing on the road when we get back out there, but also get on terms with them at my real weight in Zwift.

I put my real weight into Zwift. It makes it very hard to get up hills, just like in real life! ;)

Seems to be a fair few light and powerful riders around and some are likely exaggerating their weight. Doesn’t really bother me and neither does someone avoiding the 50k grind for tron bike - happy to have earned mine fair and square.

My young lad was awarded a "cone of shame" when he smashed his way round 'Central Park' on Saturday. We think he got it for being too fast up the KoM hill but not really sure. Need to investigate a bit further. He's very light (52kg) and very fit and spent nearly his entire 45min ride in the orange/red effort zone. He's just using my bike and non-smart turbot and he certainly wasn't trying to cheat so we're a bit confused at the moment.
