I would wait and see how the next couple of weeks go Corrah and see how the longer runs go. The marathin is a long way if not really prepared! 20 hilly miles for me this morning. |

Are we all looking forward to the taper ?? I keep hearing different opinions of the course. The one thing everyone seems to agree on though is there is a hill close to the end ? Any information would be greatly received 😊 |

Oh yes, Solo, there's a hill at about 25.7 miles. You turn the last corner back to the university and the s0dding thing is there, waiting for you! 🤣 I learned new swear words from fellow runners the first time I did it! Good news is it's only about 0.2 of a mile, and then it's a gentle downhill over the line. You get to run down the same hill at the start. The first 7 miles is pretty flat. Then it gets a bit more uppy downy, but compared to most places in the UK it's still pretty minor. But you're in Norfolk, aren't you? |

Thank you so much 3M. Besides the last test it sounds my kind of course. I like undulating. I am coastal North Norfolk on the coast so quite undulating. I ran the Ipswich half on Sunday and that had its challenges. When I received my goody bag at the end it had Yorkshire Marathon blazened across the back. I am taking it as a good sign! It was a Run for All race. |

A week to go and this week I have been battling a cold/virus. My partner has had it a week longer than me and is getting no better which is worrying but not covid which is something ! Hope everyone else is enjoying their taper and the anticipation of next week 😀 |

Hope you get well soon Solo Did my 20 mile long run this last week so into the taper now - this morning did a parkrun which felt good and strange at the same time as used to the slow marathon pace over past weeks. Now need to plan some shorter runs this coming week and prepare for Sunday. Hope everyone else is feeling positive. |

Thank you dobbers Your taining sounds as though it has gone well and sounding very positive. Well done! At the moment weather is looking good too. It is 21 degrees and humid here today so glad cooler temperatures are predicted up North. |

It's the final countdown now! parkrun this morning was quite good (but reminder for visitors - no York Knavesmire parkrun next weekend if you were planning an easy one here!) although I may have counteracted the last week's rest by too much beer and souvlaki! I'm getting a bit twitchy now about COVID - my father in law may have it, since my sister in law and husband have tested positive and he's not happy with his current "cold and sore throat". And he's coming to lunch tomorrow, maybe. 😬 And my next door neighbours both have it too. I think I may hide at home for a week! |

Heslington park run also a nice easy flat one (it is 5 laps but they go by quite quickly). 3M I think you should hide somewhere for the next week. I am doing the 10 mile race. Although I am very happy with my current form and pace over shorter distances ie up to 10km I have realised I haven't run any further than 10k for a while. So going to do a moderately paced longer than 10k run tomorrow. And then just easy runs the rest of the week. |
