I train on my own on my LSR,when I run my 20 milers I find it can be hard going, but it's good for headwork, but saying that a but of company would be good, when you running 3 to 4 hours.

So... I've always liked running solo - especially being able to come home, put my running stuff on and hit the streets. But today I went for my first club run. I ended up with the faster group (more by chance) and it was a lot of fun. Really nice people, really good motivation - especially as I'm coming back from injury my fitness is not what it was. So it was good to push myself to keep up with the pack. Really friendly and chatty people, supportive, plus found some new paths/routes etc... I suppose the downside for me is the organized nature of it (running at a certain place, at a certain time - I quite like my independence/freedom) but I think the benefits definitely outway any negatives... I'm going back Thursday to try out the intervals session then signing up... But, I would highly recommend 'try-before-you-buy'... |

I run with Chelsea Running Club in London and we don't pay anything as club is not affiliated with Uk athletics. ww.chelsearunningclub.co.uk Very social and gets 30 or so runners each. Monday. Maybe try and find something similar? London running clubs |

NsL have a look at the Association of Running Clubs as an alternative to English Athletics. If you click on "membership" you can persuade the site to show you a list of member clubs. runningclubs.org.uk |
