Uh-oh: Wordle sold to the New York Times. "The newspaper publisher said the game would initially remain free to play." bbc.co.uk That's a shame.

They’ll be needing to recoup their ‘7-figure investment’ somehow. Probably kiss goodbye to all the copycat spin-offs too.

I like it but not enough to pay for it. I’d be ok with adverts as long as they weren’t intrusive.

Had a go at Cyrdle. After 12 goes I still hadn't guessed a word, so I looked at the instructions to find one.
Now i have two letters in the wrong place, but haven't so far guessed a word that will fit. Got bored with that, so googled 5 letter Welsh words.

Have tried 4 containing the two letters, but they weren't accepted as proper words. Then I got one letter in the wrong place.

Searched again and bingo, I now have 4 letters in the correct place.

Think I will probably stop playing Wordle once it moves, just don't like newspaper sites. Sounds like it will come under their games subscription soon enough, I predict well over 90% of players will bin it shortly after.

Happy for the creator though, it's a simple game but very well executed and has been totally free without any ads for a long time
