Phew Dave - glad Phoebe is OK. Is that pub dog-friendly? We have been in there on our pre-dog holidays there but not on our more recent visits, although most of the pubs we've visited have been dog-friendly even in the pre-dog days (which seem *so* long ago now) :-)

Rosehip - I am so glad no two year olds have ever rushed up to us wanting 'doggie kisses' Wanda will give a paw to small children but I think she would be scared of anything more and a scared Staffie around an enthusiastic toddler is not a combination we really want to put to the test... I'm possibly worrying unnecessarily, but better safe than sorry in this case...... dog

Yes, dog friendly pub. Cracking pub too. We went for a nerve settling pint after.

Gosh Dave, I'd need more than a pint I think! Relieved it was a happy ending.

Charlie reminded us of how much of a puppy he still is this evening. SiL and family are visiting. She doesn't like pets, especially dogs. Rather than wanting doggy kisses, she wanted him as far away as possible. Of course, this was Charlie's cue to go completely crazy in his attempts to jump up her and lick her face. He didn't get that far but only because I had a very tight grip on him. No amount of "Charlie sit"-ing would calm him down and we ended up having to put him in the other room.
Did I mention he dribbled wee all over the carpet in his excitement? SiL was not impressed.

Oh dear Alice, how do dogs recognise people who aren't keen and why do they feel the need to convert them? ;-)

Sorry Alice but I'm *slightly* laughing.

Actually I think cats are even worse for making a beeline for any cat hater/fearer they espy!

Poor SIL - I can just imagine! Though how anyone could not adore Charlie is beyond me....
