What a lovely dog DT.

We got our harry potter on yesterday.

Felt hard work with arlo the last few days. But lots going on and lots of people etc so don't blame him. But staying at my inlaws, where he has stayed multiple times. Christmas eve my FiL had to sleep on the sofa with him as he wouldn't settle in the kitchen like usual (dodnt wake me up to tell me). Then last night I did, so not much sleep.

He also bit me today as I tried to stop him eating something he shouldn't (I didn't handle it well in my attempt to be fair) Didn't break the skin and he calmed down as quickly as he set off which is huge as it used to last for ages.

Tiredness to blame for both of us.

Christmas can be just as stressful for dogs as it is for humans so hopefully he'll calm down again soon Roberto and you'll continue the good progress.

Meanwhile I saw this today and having heard from a colleague who also has a staffie that they had a similar experience last year at least it's not just Wanda then.... bbc.co.uk

Very festive EdJ.

Does anyone that runs with their pups use an action camera? GoPros are obviously the famous brand, but probably put my price range. Any more affordable but still decent quality ones that anyone would recommend?

Sorry Roberto can't help

Getting worried about our boy Marvin he is coming up 11 in a couple of months. Has slowed down a lot lately and apart from his 2 walks he sleeps all day. He has always been a fussy eater but lately we seem to have found something he likes, and he has eaten well for the last few months., until recently. He seems to stop eating for a few days at a time, and currently it is 2 days since he has eaten his meals. He will still eat his dental stick and shapes, but nothing else. I even cooked him his favorite tonight and it is still in the bowl. He has been curled up with me for a couple of hours now, just sleeping.

He will walk 1.5 miles each walk and today ran around at the beach and loved it.

I know he will slow down but I don't know when I should get worried, in the past he has gone 3 or 4 days without eating.

Sorry that was a waffle

Is he still drinking, weeing and pooing normally Mandy? (The latter, insofar as he has anything to excrete.) If those functions are ok it's probably nothing other than old age, I guess. But a quick checkover at the vets wouldn't be too expensive and could rule out stuff like gum disease etc.

As regards sleeping all day, that's been Flossie's default mode for years ;-)

She went to the vets today. We are back to going indoors to the consulting rooms instead of being seen in the carpark. We had to wait in the waiting room for about 10 minutes and the poor creature shook with fear nearly the whole time (the only time she's been inside the building in the last two years was for her knee operation.) She's never exhibited such overt anxiety before :-( There were no needles or anything unpleasant done to her this time so hopefully next time we go (not before July for her annual vaccinations I hope) she'll be back to her more relaxed demeanour.

He is still drinking, weeing and pooping. Has thankfully now just eaten for the first time in 5 meals.

He too hates the vets, gets so stressed out when we have to go there, and he ends up in such a state.

A vet trip would be a good idea.

We are adapting even more to older hounds. Cookie is being tested for an under active thyroid tomorrow. Following in Phoebes footsteps.
That’ll be more meds on top of his loxicom for arthritis.

Hope Marvin has now rediscovered his appetite, but I’d get him checked over if he starts skipping meals again and isn’t usually a fussy eater.

Hope everything goes well for Cookie too.

Stella (9 year old Lab) has also been at the vets this week. She scared the sh*t out of me by taking a seizure on Monday night, and followed it up with another three spread over Tuesday and Wednesday. She was given tablets after the first one, and hasn’t had any further seizures today. An MRI scan and appointment with the Vetinary Neurologist next week will shed some light on what’s happening. As her blood tests didn’t highlight anything, the two most likely causes are:

1. Idiopathic Epilepsy.
Can probably control this with tablets, although it would usually show up before a dog reaches the age of six.

2. Brain Tumour.
I don’t believe there’s any good outcome waiting at the end of this one, so I’m hoping the neurologist can find a more manageable underlying cause next week.

Tuesday and Wednesday were hellish, and I was too scared to leave the house (aside from the dash to the vets) in case she took another fit. She’s had a much better day today and we both enjoyed a walk along the riverbank with no drama or scares this afternoon. She’s getting lots of attention and (despite the tablets I’m hiding inside them) is enjoying the three daily portions of cheese that have been added to her diet this week.
