57.5 Degrees of Pain
We thoroughly enjoyed having an 11 year old border collie come to live with us while his owners worked in Tanzania and Qatar for three years. Moss was stuck in his ways but we knew exactly what we were getting and he got on great with our old dog of similar age.

Never had any health issues in those 3 years and spent a final year back with his old family after Barny died and we were happy to be dog free for a while.

The dog free period ended when we took on Ronnie for 8 months while his family worked in New Zealand. He was 12 and we knew he was a sweetheart from looking after him occasionally.

Chester did his first parkrun today. Just under 50 minutes, and that’s with a total melt down in the middle when my hubby went past in the opposite direction (out n back course). Very proud of him!

Fizz :-)
Anybody have a use for a 63cm leather collar ( ancol.co.uk ) (it’s probably bigger than Chester!!) or a Kong “CuteSeas” squeaky whale ( amazon.co.uk )?

I won them as rather random tombola prizes, and they’re top quality, but absolutely useless to me!

That’s kind of you Fizz.

Charlie would love the toy whale but I suspect it would be shredded within minutes!

Cookie and Phoebe are home from 2 weeks home boarding whilst we’ve been on holiday. We picked them up at 17:00. Since then we’ve driven home, fed them and now they’re flat out on the sofa, as expected.

Albie came home on Tuesday from 10 days of home boarding (his first longer stay away). He was totally exhausted and a bit anxious at first. He seems to have settled back now and the dog walker today said he has been brilliant yesterday and today.

The lady at the boarding place said he had 'separation anxiety' - not liking being left alone. She totally loved him though and said he was fab and that she'd miss him. He manages being left alone fine at home in his pen (not in the open plan room though) so I think it is more about security. If he feels he is secure he is fine being left and just sleeps. If he feels insecure then he cries. At home boarding he was in a strange place so I'm not surprised he was clingy. He's also a whippet so prone to being a clingy dog anyway!
