D2metres apart airhug for Christmas
Oh dear, that's sad, 15 years is a long time to have a doggy companion.

Thank you all. She’s still with us, and apparently grumpy she’s not been fed so mum gave her a little bit of grated chicken.

That reminds me of the time OH and I had my sister's extremely elderly Lab to stay when she and her family disappeared off to Australia for the summer holidays.
Sam woke us up one night being extremely unwell- bloody diarrhoea, you name it. The vet came out first thing and said, hmm, this could be the end but I'll give him a shot of 'something', but if he's no better by the evening the kindest thing is to let him go peacefully.I spent the day very anxiously, it was impossible to contact my sister and I kept imagining telling her and her children Sam was no more.
About 4 o'clock I looked at Sam and thought he looked a bit brighter. 'Would you like a biscuit Sam?' I asked. Did he? Leapt out of his bed wagging his tail, and all was well again for several months when he did finally succumb. At least then it was my sister's decision, not mine!

We visited some people today who have a dog (10 yrs old) who is off to the specialist veterinary hospital tomorrow for something that according to the vets is very rare so they are very interested in it as a case study. I hope they would do their best to make it better anyway but give that the condition is 'so unusual' I hope they try doubly hard. She was a lovely dog, who had been bred by her owners and while it is never a good time this is a particularly bad time of year for that sort of bad news......

Mum have Pips the chicken & 6 bits of kibble, of which she ate half of it. A trip to the vets is on the cards today I believe.
Poor little girl, she’s been the loveliest dog and we wouldn’t have considered lurchers when we were looking for a dog if it hadn’t been for her.

Rumours of Pippas’s demise are exaggerated. She is up & about demanding food. Yay!
Thanks all for your kind words tho, much appreciated.
