Yep. Rory is right now standing on the window seat next to me staring out in search of cats. This morning a very confident tortoiseshell called Monty came and jumped into the garden. A brief (but loud) scuffle ensued. Monty shot onto the top of the fence and intimidated Rory by hissing at him. Then he went and rolled around the driveway while Rory went nuts trapped on the other side of the gate. I do hope that one day they'll be friends...

We only get mainly feral cats in the fields after rabbits, Indi chases them up a tree and then just leaves them to it. Ebony used to stay in the field for hours if she had put a cat up a tree!

Ernie likes to chase cats but I honestly think it is an attempt to play. He's forever trying to say hello to next door's cat. Freddy has other ideas. They apparently shared a bed when the neighbour was looking after Ernie though. We're just back from a camping trip. Ernie finds it all very puzzling I think. He sleeps in with me after our first attempt to crate him in the living area resulted in loud whining and crying. If I dared move after 5am he came and gave my face a wash and wagged his tail - which makes quite a lot of noise bashing against the tent. 2 very early starts and a long lie until 7:45 this morning. |

I've only just got in from work so missed some of the earlier discussion but .... Wanda.... Cats... I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions. Mind you there's a big black cat up the road who regularly chases Wanda down the street which she finds somewhat disconcerting. I think he must live with dogs because he definitely thinks he is the boss. If he ever dared to venture into our garden though it might be a different story!

Frankie is a tiny black cat with a white chest. Frankie lives with a fat Rottie, elderly GSD Rottie cross lady who has a "thing" for ralph and a scruffy little terrier thing. Frankie goes for walks with her fmily. Ralph thinks Frankie is fair game and equivalent to a black rabbit. frankie used t think Ralph was a friend, like the dogs she lives with. Ralph didn't agree If I see the group walking we go in a different direction |

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Our old dog Moss used to let himself out the back door to sit in the garden on a regular basis. Several times when he didn't return when called we found him virtually nose to nose with a hedgehog. Dog just lying still and staring, hedgehog uncurled and obviously seeing Moss as a friend. He never tired of chasing swallows though, while larger and slower birds did not impress him as a challenge. |

I met a woman the other day walking two dogs and one cat. Cat stood in the middle of the footpath (stream on one side, barbed wire fence on the other) and refused to back down. In the end I dragged Rory past it while it hissed and swiped at his face. I feel like for once Rory was not the antagonist in that situation...
