Hello...wonder if any of you have some advice. My King Charles Cavalier age 9 has diarrhoea. Thought she was better but woke up to a mess again. This is the fourth day. Normally never messes in the house. She is quite well in herself. I have tried rice which I thought had cured the problem but thought I would try and starve her today? She is not happy about that lol

Squits over more than a couple of days would mean a trip to the vets for Floss (I'd say tomorrow though, not the emergency vet). If your dog is drinking plenty and seems otherwise well I'm sure it's just a case of 'sniffing the wrong lamp-post' as our vet put it once, but in an older dog especially, it's worth getting checked out. A little bit of plain poached chicken might make her feel she's had something to eat without putting too much strain on her digestive system? Hope she feel better soon - keep us posted!

In which vein, phew, for Jet!

Despairing at the locals who think it is a great idea to tip half a tonne of grit/salt all over the road. Poor Ernie started yelping in pain and wouldn't put down one foot. Got him into the side into some fresh snow and he hit the deck yelping some more. I used clean snow to clean the grit off and he was a lot happier. Must give his feet a wash now.

Good point HP - I think a lot of people are unaware of how nasty salt/grit can be for dogs.

Glad Jet seems OK, H.
George has had great fun playing in the snow this morning. He got very confused with snowballs - couldn't work out where they kept disappearing to :)

Daisy thank you so much for taking the time to answer. Will see how the next 24 hours go. Other than watching every move I make in case food is coming her way she seems happy enough and so far no further incidents.

It sounds like starving is having a positive effect SR6. We've never had that issue with Ernie (so far) so couldn't offer much advice. Hopefully she is on the mend now but as LD says a trip to the vet might be in order tomorrow if things don't settle.

Just catching up on all the news. What a worry about Jet. SR6 hope your dog is soon better, but a check over by the vet would probably be sensible and they can probably give you one of those pastes/powders to help get her digestive system back to normal.

We have spent the weekend in Sheringham where there was no snow, so to come home to it was a bit of a surprise. We took Wanda over to the local playing field (in the dark by this time) and I think she thought she was on a beach when she felt the snow as she wanted to run - so I let her off the lead (which I would normally never do in the dark). She had a fine old time galloping about until she saw a half made snowman across the field and charged over to it - I hadn't seen it and was concerned she was heading for home. Needless to say the 'stop' and 'come' commands fell on deaf ears. She stopped when she got to the snowman though!
