So even 1/4 springer seems to have the house destroying gene. I work at home, door open to back.... Dougal digs small hole in lawn . Water table is so high it fills with water. He then sticks his face in it (unbeknownst to me), runs in, covered in mud, straight across the carpet and jumps onto my lap in one while I am Skypeing to a work colleague.... Ohhh thank you Dougal. Seems like the 3/4 sensible border collie (ok not too sensible) is outweighed by the 1/4 bonkersness that is springer.

We used to have several dogs at school, but I never took Daisy. It sounds mean but while I know she would have been extremely tolerant I didn't want her being pulled about in the way some of the boys did with other teachers' dogs. She was already 10 when I started working there, so quite elderly.

I'd just like to say that I take back any negative thoughts I *might* have had about the lady doing my home check, who in real life turned out to be very pragmatic about dog owning and we had a nice chat for an hour and a half about places to dog walk locally, running and the new houses that are being built opposite me (she knows someone thinking of buying one. One word: EXPENSIVE.)
