I usually crush tablets into a powder (fold it in paper and then hit it with a hammer) and then sprinkle it over the dry kibble. That works for my two!

We have been learning "down" from a stand and "stand" from a down tonight at puppy class and I didn't own up that once again I really don't know the difference between stay and wait... I need a poster with the explanation written in big :)

I always think of 'wait' as 'wait FOR the next command'. And 'Stay' UNTIL I return (and tell you you can move)

Is that any help?

My understanding of the difference is that we say wait when we are going to ask the dog to do something else afterwards... so e.g. sit, wait, owner walks away and recalls the dog then gives the release command/fuss etc. Stay is used when there isn't going to be a following command... eg down, stay, owner walks away for 2 minutes then returns to the dog and gives the 'release' word and fuss.

That's how we were taught at the class I used to go to... it's not really an area that has been discussed at my new class but it seems to be the same..

Blimey! So much to learn. So far I am absolutely seeing the value in the classes. Not so keen on the trainers who are quite aloof.

Yesterday we met up with a friend and her 1 year old cockapoo. Another friend joined us with her spaniels. Oh what fun! Ernie found the perfect partner to bundle with.

We learned the same difference between 'stay' and 'wait'.

Spaniel heaven :-) We notice an element of breed/behaviour recognition when they meet.

And the same here for 'wait' and 'stay'.
