Sorry about that, LM. I know you have restricted options right now. It's nothing personal! I'm just trying to maintain a consistent highish mileage and I run pretty much where I feel like, butsince I entered WSW I thought I might as well plan out my routes.

I can't see the motivation for accepting a challenge anyway. It reminds me of Hereford United and Newcastle in the 70s  The person high up the rankings has virtually nothing to gain and a lot to lose. The people lower down have an incentive only to challenge someone much higher up than their algorithmic assignment would offer. Other than the spirit of giving the little guy a chance, why would it ever get going? I suppose time and statistics will tell. To fix the problem of how long it takes for a person to work up the rank8ngs it would be better to have seeding in the first place. But then, that never happened with UTMOST either.

How about an incentive to take the challenge? At the moment it is a pot of 24 where the amount you put in is based on your ranking. The winner takes the 24. The higher ranking player puts in the majority so has the most to lose
How about you put an extra 6 in if you are the challenger. If you win you gain just as much but have a bit of risk
At the moment if RRR plays Jase, he could win 1 and lose 23. With this approach, he could gain 7 or lose 23. That might be closer to a fair trade as the odds should be much closer than the rankings suggest.

Ultimately, no-one has to do any of it But if two friends want to play each other, or someone thinks they have a shot at the big time, and the person they pick thinks they are untouchable... it's just for fun.
