For nights on the Fells and things like BGR supports I use a Hope R4, there is nothing to match it for power and quality. My wife has an R2, that's pretty potent too. Unsociable though and if you are running behind someone they will be running in their own shadow.

The only negative to me, is that is says it doesn't work on rechargeable batteries and I haven't been brave enough to try yet (also, we didn't have any rechargeables of the right size at home)

I wear glasses and wear a cap in the rain, which doesn't go well with a head torch! And in light rain or mist I can hardly see anything.
