Just in time ordering I would imagine, I.e. they have mozza to sell as mozza but not to put on pizzas.
I also thought there has been a general shortage of green veg because of the mad weather this summer....
Mind you my nearest Morrisons is miles away and only go to stock up on wine and loose leaf tea.

I think that Morrison's are quite long way from that level of just-in-timeness, WS.
LD, I also noticed that the deli, hot counter, salad bar and butchery had all reduced their display areas (banners over the empty portions). Which is not as as bad as a couple of local Asda/Tesco (both enormostores) who have either reduced hours and shut counters some days (Asda) or just close them altogether Tesco.

That is interesting because I have seen the same lately at the meat counter in sainsbury. I don't buy any meat from them, we have a butcher who sells better and cheaper stuff. Could it be the interest in vegan/veggie food so stocks are being reduced?

I’m guessing there’s no process for changing something from being product for sale, to being something they can use to cook with. It would probably mess up someone’s spreadsheet.

Near my house on a main road is a bus/cycle lane that has been there forever. The council are building new houses on the wasteland to the left. A big sign has appeared; "Cyclists: beware of construction traffic turning across bus lane".
Not warning construction traffic to look out for cyclists, no, it's the cyclists who are expected to look out for and give way to bloody great lorries full of aggregates despite it being our right of way.

Carp - I heard an HGV shouting out repeatedly 'Warning - vehicle turning left'. If an HGV driver cannot see a cyclist on his left, the HGV is surely not roadworthy unless escorted by police.

Coming out in sympathy with Carp.... Signs around roadworks that say "Cyclists Dismount". You never see one that says "Motorists get out and push", do you?

Chris, isn't there a great big blind spot to the left of most large right-hand-drive vehicles? I thought that was why cyclists are always advised not to overtake them on the left. (Although I'm never quite sure if this still applies if there's a cycle lane).
