Am away seeing family and off to do a parkrun. I do have my trail shoes which is a good thing as when I bent down to do up my ordinary trainers as there’s a bit of walking to and from the stations I dapcpvered they are both for the right foot πŸ˜ƒ

A Rae in a manger
Out gritting with my colleague Nicky, we got to a new address in a different city about 40km away that requires us to get out and walk around the footpaths that took us out of sight of the van, so he locked it up, we did our thing, got back to our and the key did nothing.

Central locking had no reaction, key just turned in the lock without making any contact.

Both of my phones were inside, and his work phone, but luckily he had his personal phone in his pocket and the number of one of our other colleagues who was also working tonight saved in it.

Called that colleague, for the number of the supervisor in charge of gritting tonight, discussed that it was a problem, nobody knew what to do, etc. I asked if we didn't have something like AA cover, turns out we do, had to call another different colleague who had the details. Couldn't get hold of him, while we were waiting for him to call back he suggested we may have to just leave the van, get our other colleagues to pick us up and take us back to Eindhoven.
I checked my pockets and said at least I have my car keys, even if I have to abandon my phones.

He checks his pocket and says he has the key for the other work van that he usually drives, bit not his house keys, although his girlfriend should be able to let him in.

Seeing the other VW van key in his hands I ask if he's sure the one that wasn't working was indeed the one for the van we were standing next to. He tried the other one, et voilΓ .
We are back in the van and I will never let him forget this πŸ˜‚
