We had a blackbird and very small mouse this morning, though all three potential culprits gave me the, "who me?" angelic look when i went downstairs

rmo3b, they do and I now actually smile rather than become sad when thinking of Molls (Molly) and Bunt Bunt (Bunty), if they hadn't left for Kitty Kingdom and made way to save another two lives (Simples and Izzy)

It all started in Felixstowe 14 years ago, I wanted a small kitten, went to RSPCA and finally Blue Cross. They both didn't have any little bundles and as I was walking out of Blue Cross, a Grey bag of bones, literally, jumped up some perspex which made me look into her box. She was less than 12 months old but had had two kittens already and they feared for them all. Not sure why, but I said I would pay for treatment and if they all pulled through would adopt. Think it was the fact that mum was a grey and the two kittens were both tortie but so different. Long story short, they all survived and became my girls. Unfortunately lost Molls later but then found two black sisters (Bunty and Claudine) in a so-called Pet Rescue Centre (Suffolk) they were kept in tiny cages, flea bitten and not well treated, had to escape them from there, so then there were 4. Then I lost Bunt Bunt and some time after there was an Open Adoption Day at Kidderminster Pet Rescue, saw two gorgeous Ginger girls and couldn't separate them so then there were Simples and Izzy = 5! Mad, yep, but happy.

Q Mac - I don't know how you do it. We have enough trouble with our 3. They all pretty much hate each other! Still they seem to have come to an uneasy truce most of the time. Secretly though I would have more but I know it would not be a good idea.

Q Mac, I totally get everything & why you have the 5. I work with a local animal rescue who have at least 70+ cats & kittens in most of the time. Its so difficult not to take more home, but my eldest developed an OCD prob with obssesive grooming as a side effect of stress. She was the original queen bee of the house. Also, vets fees on boosters is getting rather steep & costs of other vet visits too limits me to the 3.

We have 3 also - this one here<<<<<<< Amber is 19, we've had her from 8 weeks and she was definitely a baby substitute. We already had a tabby and white boy that we'd taken in when his owner got bored with him! He taught Amber everything a little kittie needed to know except that you can playfight without the claws coming out He left home after a couple of years and moved in the an old lady up the road so we needed to get some company for Amber whilst we were at work, we got Marmi from the RSPCA, he was in a terrible state but lots of love and cuddles mended him over time. We lost him when he was 13, we'd had him 8.5 years and we were distraught when he had a stroke and after nursing him for 3 months we had to make the decision that it was time for us to let him go. Again, back to the RSPCA for some company for Amber (sound familiar?) and we came home with Mr 'Gorgeous' Paws, the most beautiful brown and butterscotch tabby. Amber hates him! 2.5 years later she still snarls at him and smacks him when he accidently gets too close Last year it looked as though Amber would not last much longer, so back to the RSPCA for some company for Mr Paws, so that we would not have to get a 'replacement' for Amber. However, she has always been contrary and is still with us! We picked up Elsie this time last year, hubby fell in love with a Felix lookalike, she was feral and had just had kittens but they thought that she wasn't too much older than her kitties. She and Paws are great mates and race around the house and garden playing chase and off ground tick - Amber looks on and smacks them if they get too close! She has first pick of the bowls at mealtimes - the other two just wait patiently until she has had a taste from all 3 bowls and decided which one she is having - we wouldn't be without our 'babies' they are part of our family.
