Personally - my shoes, when they have come to the end of their "running career" - end up as gardening shoes, or for driving, or for when I can't be bothered with wearing "proper" shoes. I get a few more years out of them. What do others do?

Mine fall down the pecking order over a period of time. Shorter runs, mountain bike, casual use, car washing, decorating, gardening, bin.

Occasionally they come out of retirement and join me on short, easy runs when I just need to move my legs a bit (if they are not too knackered).

They come out with me on short runs or become everyday trainers.

I use mine as everyday trainers - I find it hard to "retire" them permanently by disposing of them.

I think mine go to a power plant in Bulgaria. Fizz might be able to give you more detail.

Mine die on the job. I'm quite happy to wear them until they're either irredeemably worn out or irredeemably smelly.

I used to use them for walking / gardening route but now I'm eaking out every mile I can and they'll probably make their own way to the tip when I've finished with them.

Hardly any of my shoes have officially retired. Several have gone to garden use and others are, well, holey beyond wearability. The list could do with a tidy. One low use pair seem lost.
