Homeless Kodo
Most male Reindeer shed their antlers in late autumn/ early winter after the rut, older males shed theirs as late as December, female Reindeer shed theirs in the summer. Rudolph and the team getting Santa round on 24th December are female.

I'm surprised that someone managed to feel able to declare that, Dio.

"Aits" = small islands .. another word we've just learnt from doing a crossword. Our original guess was "Ayot" but as it wasn't a plural, we figured that couldn't be right and obviously, it wasn't. We had to look up the correct answer ..

Very (h)educational these crosswords .. :)

There are some aits in the Thames - we used a centre on one for 5-year review strategy planning (quite hard to get interrupted in a place where you need a boat to get there), and I know someone with a houseboat moored off another. Don't remember ever coming across the word outside those two.

eyot is a variant on 'ait', as discussed. OE, iggath, diminutive, from ieg, an island. [Oxford Conc. Dict.]

Chiswick Eyot, from boar race commentary, springs to mind.
