That's "my internet provider" rather than my actual internet provider or the police. So they can get in the bin with the PayPal and National Crime Agency scams too then.

I let them waffle on for a bit before asking who they represented, whereupon they said "oh, we deal with a few companies" before reeling off all the usual suspect ISPs. When I pointed out that it was funny that they had not referred to my provider, they stuttered, stumbled, and the line went suddenly dead. It was a shame, I had enjoyed wasting their time...

Dark humour it may be, but it does get rid of the calls pretty sharpish.

I replied “we don’t have a boiler”, (we do) to which he responded “how do you heat your water?” “We use geothermal ground source heating” (we don’t) and then he hung up! How rude!
