Today I learnt about Cain’s Jawbone, by

“In 1934, The Observer’s crossword writer, Edward Powys Mathers, wrote a unique novel Cain’s Jawbone. The title, referring to the first recorded murder weapon, was written under his pen name Torquemada. The story was not only a murder mystery but one of the hardest and most beguiling word puzzles ever published. The 100 pages of the book were printed and bound out of order and the reader was invited to re-order the pages, solve the mysteries and reveal the murderer(s). There were over 32 million possible combinations of pages but only one order was correct.”

You can now have a go at solving this puzzle for yourself. There is a £1000 prize.

Concerning the Bonzo Dog Band song We Are Normal:

"The lyrics, "We are normal and we want our freedom" echo a line from a (then) new Peter Brook production of the play by Peter Weiss, The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade (normally shortened to Marat/Sade). In the play the line is shouted by the inmates at the lunatic asylum. The band saw the play at their art college and later used the line in this song."
