HappyG - your enthusiasm is brill, fab, fantastic!

And don't believe all those runners saying they're chilled waiting for the ballot. They're lying through their back teeth! Everyone's on edge - The rest of us are just engaging self-preservation instincts by keeping a low profile until the "night of the long ballot" :-)

But don't let us grumpy bar stewards get you down. The world needs HappyGs.

I'm going to be so blessed if I get in - so many dear friends to share this with. It's all your bloody fault I'm even attempting it anyway! :-) G

It's whwrunner here, logged on as Santa. Can I explain the reason for not having a waiting list in a bit more detail? We accept 265 entries, knowing that at least 65 of those will withdraw before race day, bring us down to our capacity of 200. Experience from previous years shows we do not get down to the 200 level until early June. So if we did have a waiting list, there would be around 100 people on it who wouldn't hear anything till June, and even then only a handful would be likely to be offered a place. It just doesn't seem to make sense. If we get below 200 in June and there are people who are in a position to take up a place with a few weeks notice I would consider it - we have done that in the past - but I do not want to give any of these people false hope.

Some of the entrants have made a significant contribution to the race by virtue of their help and support in previous years. These people will be allocated a place directly and will not go through the ballot.

I am seeing Murdo tomorrow afternoon to go through the entries, so everyone will know whether they are in or out early next week. I appreciate there are going to be quite a lot of disappointed people this year, but hopefully everyone will appreciate the reasons for our limit and the way we have conducted the process. In reply to one of the points above, we are not able to say that those peopleballoted out this year will be given a place next year - that would mean too many of the places were pre-allocated, and would reduce the opportunity for others.

It's a testiment to you and your team Ian that you are well oversubscribed with entries.

Part true, Boab, fortunately or unfortunately, virtually every Ultra race of any value seems to have a huge following nowadays.

Yes indeed whwrunner, thanks for additional explanations. Much appreciated.

I had a great conversation with mike_a half way up the Pentlands this morning about whw entry nerves! What a fab morning out it was. 1C, horizontal sleet, sunshine and blustery wind. Braw!

Just a few days to wait... luck good luck everyone! :-) G

Was good to see you, funny who you bump in to! Was a cracking day, so glad we made the most of the kids being away and got out to the Pentlands.

I've just booked my accommodation - there isn't that much left in Fort William, and what there is, isn't cheap! If you're planning on staying for the party - and why wouldn't you - best to book before the ballot results come out.
