Have I got it right that a support runner is optional?

It's just thinking about my crew in 2015 (e.g. family) Daniel (eldest son) is the only one that could be my support runner but he would be the driver and may find that multitasking difficult!!! ;-)

runner is optional for you, BUT you must have someone capable of running out to get you should you get injured etc or need help in any way

True Boab, very true, but compared to the London marathon, the odds are really good :)

Runner is mandatory if you get to one of the check points later than a certain cut off (maybe you know you will be ahead of that, that's why santababy said "for you")? I interpreted that it was mandatory for eveyrone because it *could* happen to anyone, even the quickest, that they still want to continue, but have been held back by injury, fatigue or other unforeseen circumstance. I'll try and find the rule from website...

Any runner leaving Glencoe Ski Lodge after 9pm Saturday or Kinlochleven after 10pm Saturday must be ‘paired up’ with another runner or a member of their Back Up crew.

...

All runners must have motorised back up for the full duration of the event. Up until Auchtertyre you need at least one crew member, and from Auchtertyre onwards you need a crew of at least two people, one of whom must be capable of accompanying you during the last two stages if required.
