Just in case the H&S police are snooping, I was never actually concussed. I fainted after falling on the pitch black Lairig Mor just after midnight, going over on my ankle and cutting my head open on a rock. Not actually ever concussed. Honestly guv.

Actually, from Lundavra to Fort Bill, M1nty was in pretty good shape - probably more coherent than mrs s in 2012. Of course, he had had a wee sleep on the Lairig Mor to recharge his batteries.

From Lundavra to Fort Bill Sandra was dancing and singing at the op of her voice. She is a freak.

M1nty, you are mentioned by Wilderness Rescue's Jeff Smith in Ep.52 WHW Podcast as "that bloke that should have got pulled out at Lundavra but somehow managed to carry on". I'm paraphrasing! And he said it in good natured way and said that he'd always encourage folk to take a rest and carry on unless in imminent medical danger.

Different design, but same kudos is what I was going for sants re. goblets. As in, I'm only doing this for me and KJTindall can do it as early and as quickly as he likes and I shall not rue or regret entering in my own good time and taking part (and hopefully completing) in my own, happy way. I thank you! :-)G

i think its very sensible way you're doing it :)G and i applaud you for it. Too much too soon for a lot of folk and it ends up glaringly obvious

Yes HappyG, my libel lawyers and I had fun listening to that podcast! All joking aside, I don't want to be seen to be being reckless, especially in such a tough, exposed race. Despite appearances it wasn't as crazy as it seemed. I had shanksi, spiced apple and Ju1ia as my fantastic support team - as a group making excellent, sensible decisions, ably helped by the marshals at Lundavra. They all agreed a sensible plan to continue onwards after a good rest, refueling and adding extra clothes. Jul1a knew I wasn't concussed after my fall because I was mentally computing finish times and minute miles in my head at Lundavra! They insisted that both shanksi and spicey ran with me instead of the planned one support runner for the last 7 miles, and once the adrenalin kicked back in a while after the restart, my sore ankle eased up and I was actually able to run the last three miles (albeit downhill) into Fort William.

I would have been devastated if I had been pulled out at that point but I would have accepted it. But yes, I was lucky and I will always cherish my goblet :-)
