it's now Akzo Nobel (and a bit slimmed down I think) - one of the few paint factories in and around that London that still exist.....

Small world. And not forgetting the Rays Arms. Another one that's sadly gone.

I miss being able to go out for lunch (although not for alcohol personally, 'cos I am a light weight!) but to the pie shop or the chippie. In this job we are not allowed off site, pretty much have to ask for permission to go to the shop across the street to get a bag of crisps.

Nicholls, I was trying to remember the name of the Rays Arms earlier
Our youth went to the Con club for lunch. The steward made great sandwiches and they played snooker (apparently; I would die of shame going near a Con club)

DT may have crossed wires here. I'm not talking about the Conservative Club, but the Con Club. I think Con stands for Constitutional? At one point (late 80's) they served Stella in cans. It was opposite the Cross Keys. Still is, except Cross Keys has been pulled down.
