The message when you complete the whole sorry task of entering the ballot 'we will send you a message shortly' is not wholly correct.
In my world shortly in this electronic age maybe 1 hour or 2 hours later.
Think again. In Virgin FLM world shortly means 16 hours later.
I applied last night. Had confirmation payment had been made a few minutes later. At lunch time just now I received confirmation my application had been received.
The start time for Virgin FLM 2010 is at 0930 hrs give or take 16 hours. Or start when you like.

I finally got in about 11.00am this morning after numerous attempts and getting to click uk resident then crash or one page past that - hey ho - now I wonder why I wanted to enter the ballot anyway!!!????

How about this for an idea for 2011.
Print loads of A4 sheet application forms.
Stick em in a magazine.
Place said magazines in shops.
Applicants complete and post with cheque.

AND WW you had to actually be fit enough to walk to a sports shop to get said mag and truely interested enough to remember to do so.
I am no elite runner but how many ppl have entered the new system and if they get a place in Oct will think 'shit - didn't mean it - got carried away watching it'
I don't care how long ppl take to do it. All who do it with the intention of finising are worthy of respect and an inspiration to others but.................
maybe entries shouldn't open for a month and then only ppl that really want to do it would bother
