I did the Virtual London Marathon yesterday and the official app seemed to be clocking up mileage faster than my watch. By the time the app said I had finished I had almost 2 miles left to go on my watch, (which then died shortly afterwards). Anyone else had this problem? Others I've asked seem to have had more an issue with the app not recognising when they had finished. Grateful for any advice.

When I did it in 2020 the app was rubbish but I sent in a .gpx which showed I did the distance. If your watch ran out of battery but the app says you finished then you’ve got proof (even if you did less). Did you do a bit extra after your watch died (so you can accept you ran the distance?)

The app was completely useless for me. I did the practice 5k and it gave me totally random kilometre notifications and stopped tracking me at 3.6km.
On marathon day itself, it seemed to start ok - I got loads of chit chat from Cram, Radcliffe etc - but things were going wrong pretty early on when Paula congratulated me on completing mile 6 when I was only just on 4 miles! From then on it only recorded distance very fitfully, it stopped giving me any chit chat, and stopped tracking me altogether at 25.6 km! Luckily I've got a full Garmin record to upload; unluckily the means of doing so is not available to me yet because Lets Do This doesn't recognise my booking ref no. I'm promised they will respond to my email 'withi 3 to 5 working days' but I'm not holding my breath.

Given that TCS is an IT consultancy company I'm amazed that year after year they release such a bug-ridden app.

I had that problem for the first virtual one, would have thought they'd have sorted it by now!

I had to smile this afternoon - I got a notification that the app was updated on 22 April (ie *after* the marathon) and the update was to 'fix minor bugs' *facepalm* How about fixing the major bugs? (And I'm still waiting for a response from Let's Do This!)

Hi Jules - did you contact TCS or Let's Do This about your problem with the app?* I finally heard back from Let's Do This this afternoon and they agreed I'd quoted the correct ref no and gave me an alternative link to upload my Garmin info. I've done that, but now I have to wait to see if the TCS database accepts it from this link. No idea how long that'll take but I'm assuming it only updates once a day, overnight, presumably.
*If I were you, unsatisfactory though it is, if you know you completed the distance and the app says you did (even if it was short), I'd take the app result - gives you a problem if you ever want to beat your PB though!!

Yes we had this we were in a group and at some points we were as much a 4 miles difference!

They did respond on the day though credit to them.

Anyone got their medal yet???

I'm still waiting for them to confirm my result!! Apparently it will come through 'some time this week'.

It took until well into May to get my medal and T shirt two years ago but it was a bit earlier last year. Given how slow they've been accepting my result I fear they'll have run out by the time they get round to sending mine out!

If it's like a lot of races they may well work on the basis that around 10% of entrants are DNS/DNFers and order that number of medals/T's accordingly.

Anyway I'm still waiting...
