To my very great surprise, the efforts I was wittering about last week have actually resulted in a promotion - right into last place in Div6. I shall enjoy it while it lasts and am particularly looking forward to the 'Only 27 points required for promotion' notification on Friday :)

My first 6 mile run in 18 months has pushed me up to 5th place in Div.20 - but I'm 50 points behind 3rd and faster runners than me will be promoted into Div 20 for the next 6 weeks at least, so I'll have to wait patiently for "the great reshuffle" to be resolved...

Dave..M not that it makes it much easier, but looks like you're only 37 points behind 3rd now.

I wonder what the biggest possible margin between 3rd and 4th is?

Hilarious blog JCB - you should have tagged me!

I wrote this comment...

"Lol JCB - I only just noticed this blog. You shoulda tagged me! To be honest, it was only 2 "decent" runs that did it, one was more than a month ago! A 5km that I gave a blast, then a 10 mile race 3 weeks ago. Gave them both my best shot. Target was to get over 70% WAVA. The way UTMOST works means that I will keep getting decent scores in divisions until I get to the right one (probably Div 6 or even 5) but just based on 2 runs, up to 2 months before.

The 10 miler has broken me and I haven't run for 3 weeks, if that's any consolation! Hoping my Achilles will stop grumbling and let me get out plodding in the sunshine and hills again soon. Best of luck with your own running - training or races! :-) G"

3rd can probably have 97 points and 4th may have no races at all. So that would be the biggest gap from 3rd to 4th I think.

Thanks Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)! How do you tag someone in a blog? Ah, you probably mean in this thread.

I think you’re right jdawayinamanger!

There are seven different scoring distances, making the top scores made up from 20s, 19s and 18s.

7 x 20
7 x 19
7 x 18

For three people, best five scores for each count, so that’s a total of 15 scores. There are 7 of the 20s, 7 of the 19s and would have to use one of the 18s in creating the highest third scorer.

First try, maximum score for first place
1:5x20=100
2:2x20,3x19=99
3:4x19,1x18=94

Second try, evening out the distribution of 20s
1:3x20,2x19=98
2:2x20,3x19=97
3:2x20,2x19,1x18=96

Third try, assign the 18 to the top scorer
1:3x20,1x19,1x18=97
2:2x20,3x19=97
3:2x20,3x19=97

So 97 is the best 3rd place score.

And 4th-20th place may all have no times.

🙂

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Start in the bottom division, and compete over seven different distances against your rivals for weekly promotion!

How It Works
1) The game takes your best times from training and racing over the last 12 months.

2) If you've got the fastest 5k in your division, you get 20 points. If you're second fastest, you get 19 points, etc.

3) Your FIVE best scores are used to calculate your total. So if your scores at each distance are 20,20,20,20,20,10,5 the lowest two are discarded, and your total points would be 100.

4) Promotion and relegation happen every Monday at midday.
