Has anyone done the Railway Ultra near Ironbridge? I’m thinking about doing the 19 miles option in August as a training run for my October ultra.

Little Miss, I think it’s pretty flat isn’t it? How hard did you find doing it as out and back laps?

It is quite flat yes and the laps I found ok as they are a reasonable length and it made it quite social. Also meant that you didn't need to carry anything as you were never far from a drink or snack.

Fragile Do Not Bend
Who else here has their first ultra this spring/summer? How’s the training going?
I’m certainly feeling it, very tired at the moment. But I guess it’s not surprising - my long run ‘comfort zone’ is 6-8 miles, but the last 5 weeks they’ve all been over 12 miles and getting gradually longer.
I had a 19 mile race (mostly flat) on Saturday just gone, where I learned an important fuelling lesson, the Saturday after next I have a really hilly 20, so I think I’m going to have to cut the mileage right back this week or I’ll be suffering.
I’m glad I wrote my own training plan and didn’t go with any of those plans that require running 4/5 days a week, I 100% know I couldn’t cope with that sort of mileage.
