Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've got featherlite trousers - extremely light so good for when the rules say you MUST bring them, but also waterproof and comfy for when you need them. The lightness, though, means they aren't the most robust.

My wife has Kamleikas, which are lovely; quiet, breathable and waterproof with taped seams, so they will pass any kit check. I have £10 unbranded type; noisy, not breathable, but waterproof with taped seams, so again, they pass the kit checks.

The main difference is that mine rustle, and I get condensation inside, and hers are quiet, more comfortable, and don't get as much condensation.

We both wore them at the end of last year's Lakeland 50, when the rain was torrential, and they made a huge difference. When we set off in the scorching heat we both were saying "I don't know why we are carrying all this extra waterproof / warm kit". We weren't carrying any of it at midnight - we had it all on!

Ooh, I really fancy some Kamleika trousers - I have the kamleika jacket which I love. They are quite pricey though... although, buy cheap, buy twice...?

I do also like montane, so I might just go for the featherlites, they are half the price of the kamleikas.

Thanks everyone x

Montane featherlites are water resistant rather than waterproof, which may be more than adequate in most situations but if you want full waterproof go for the atomic pants
