Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Impossible is Nothing
Comrades is an amazing event - in this country ultras don't tend to have very large fields, but the Comrades has about 12,000 runners, crowd support for nearly the whole 56 miles and big sky country views! With training it is certainly doable - the 12 hour cutoff is actually quite generous. More training just makes it more "comfortable".

In this country (and most sane countries) you get away with a marathon as a great running achievement, in South Africa your running counts for nothing if you haven't done Comrades and so there are people of all shapes and sizes.

Go for it runfree - it's unforgettable.

I've pencilled in 2025 (the 100th one) but will be doing it again in the next few years if work let me - I have unfinished business!

Hmm might try something from Loon Dod's link .....like the Surrey Summits Marshal's Walk (62 miles) - sounds soft and gentle!

Keswick to Barrow, 40 miles, in May, some runners, lots of walkers, and good scenery keswick2barrow.co.uk

Sadly clashes with Winderemere Marathon - although Windermere has a 10 marathons in 10 days 'option'...
