I did wonder after I’d checked the pics too, ff….. and I did notice after I’d posted when I checked the spreadsheet that is had ‘Jim Mann’ on the sheet as being from the US - I chose breakfast over a thread update 😉🤣

I liked the descriptions last year as you could work out who was who (for the runners who I knew of, obvs) but this year they were super vague 🤣 I did like ‘man in colourful shorts’ and ‘man in funky glasses’ 😀😀😀 I think it adds to the bonkers ness as well KinkyS it was kind of ‘tradition’ maybe taking it all away is his two fingered salute at the party poopers 🤣🤣🤣 |

Last year and previous years…. Keith’s a stalwart 😀 Mohican guy and short European woman were perfect descriptions 😀 I like the indignity of being out there beating yourself but getting a description of ‘nondescript guy’ 😀 |

I'm really surprised he's ditched the descriptions and using real names.

It was the UK Jim Mann Thanks Simon. It's hard enough to find out what's happening anyway but trust Jim to make it even harder! 🤣 |

How does the course get "monitored" for compliance? I remember the guy who came in the wrong way a few years ago and was v close to sneaking in under the cut off anyway, but the commentary was that he would have been DQ'd anyway for course cutting. I'd assumed that if you got the book pages they acted as simple checkpoints meaning that, like orienteering or fell racing, it didn't really matter how you got from A to B providing you hit all of the checkpoints (in this case, in order). But Gary Robbins (the guy who was 6s outside the cutoff) was reported to have cut off two miles from the course. How would they know if anyone course cut at any other point, or is the end of that loop easier to patrol / control by reference to some outside border (e.g. a broad rule that you have to remain within the bounds of the "park")? |
