Welcome sparkee. Definitely the right forum. All sorts of races in here and 36 miles across Dartmoor won’t be easy. How well marked is it? |

Not heard of them. 36 miles of self nav over Dartmoor would be challenging… There is also the advice thread which is very welcoming and a safe place to ask for kit/training/etc help fetcheveryone.com/forum/ultra-training-for-beginners-55137/147 |

@sparkee Puretrail are my favourite race organiser. (Although Action Challenge are nipping at their ankles after this weekend, but they're more of an event organiser than a race organiser.) I really like the look of The Crossing. I've done The Great Escape (which is most of the second half of The Crossing) a couple of times. Steve and Mark, the guys behind Puretrail, are both experienced ultra runners and know how to organise an event. Good route marking in the wilds of Dartmoor too. I think you and I spoke about Lundy too? That's another of theirs. |

Thanks Synge. I've had my eye on this one for quite a while but with everything going on I'd held off signing up. Managed to get out on the moors at the weekend for 15 miles, including the part of the route from Postbridge to Princetown. Looking forward to it now but just hoping I don't pick up an injury or isolation period And yes, I'll be on the boat to Lundy in Sep too. |

+1 for Action Challenge. I recently did my first Ultra with them, and found the organisation, overall set-up and route markings to be faultless. Admittedly, I’ve got nothing similar to compare it to, and although the event was quite expensive, and probably over-supported for the more experienced, I found it to be an excellent introduction to the world of ultra running, and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to enter their first Ultra. |
