Have a good trip Dave. I’m flying from Luton Thurs as it’s less than 10 miles away but with the logistics of getting there pre 6am, it might as well be 100 miles away.

I'm sure somebody was asking about the fling entry dates; they have just been announced. Entry window from 29/9 to 13/10. The race is on the 25th April. I'm hoping to get a place, and not get flu the week before, this year. |

Just to throw in a little more of a challenge.... how about cycling to and from all your events? Way more exciting than flying in and out/ taking the car..... and reduces one's carbon footprint to and from these events.

I’d love to run to UTMB but I think my wife is cross enough with me already. It is the first ultra that I’ve done which isn’t by train or a car share with someone already going.

The International races on my bucket list when I started 6 years ago was UTMB (a route I have a walked as a child twice), Western States, and Spartathlon. 6 years further on, I haven’t really got any additional races that I could justify going overseas for. I’m too slow for Sparta and need some luck for Western States (5th time lucky hopefully). The UK list has expanded a lot with WHW, LL100, Lon Las, GUCR, NDW153, Thames Ring, Arc of Attrition on it already. The UK race schedule has grown so much in the last 5 years |

Thames Ring? Eeek. So the Fling is on the day of my 50th birthday? Doesn't fit with any other plans, but has a certain appeal... |

It was so brutally hot in the Green Man Ultra on Saturday. I have NEVER seen so many people doing the trudge of death so early in a race. People walking the flat bits. Ended up 11th in the 30 mile version so I'll take that |

Well that’s me out of the fling again... I’ll be in Australia celebrating mine and OH’s 50th. 2021 is the aim now then. Well done on your 11th place blindcider, I didn’t envy anyone doing long distances at the weekend I did a couple of short runs and it was brutal. I’m now 2 days away from Princess Challenge still know I’ll be about last but head still in a good place. Been up foam rolling as best part of a week away I’m feeling a bit stiff. Bag to pack tonight then get it done! |
