Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Question for the 100-miler runners out there.

How long did it take you to recover from your first 100-miler?

2 or 3 weeks.

I still have strava PRs from mid August after my first L100 that I can't get close to now.

4 weeks until I was back to normal. It was a very wet race so had severe blistered feet so hobbled for the first week or so. Back running week 2 but felt drained and got tired quicker than normal. Ive done a few since and 4 weeks seems to be the average. I'm back running after 3 or 4 days but very slowly

Personally, I think it helped that I was clearly very fit when I got to the taper point, so in July I did very little but the race itself, so at least had a few quiet weeks beforehand which must have helped getting running again afterwards.

But it's probably quite an individual thing, recovery time. Fatigue is one thing, but blisters/trench-foot/etc can really knock recovery back a bit I think, as NDWDave found out :)

I did 4 between May and October with 6-10 weeks between each one. Just about enough time to recover.

I have made it into work the Monday after one of the races and was ok (I have a desk job).

Thanks again zp.

I class variables as controllable and uncontrollable.

You can do nothing about environmental conditions, but kit, etc, is about trial and error and finding what works FOR YOU!!!
