From what I read the RO is thinking of alternating EfM and C everyother year. Ef... may not always stay as Meriden either which makes sense to freshen up the race after everyone susses out the fastest/easiest route. Convergence sounds interesting, defo a better atmosphere at the finish as runners meet up rather than just powering down a tracker in isolation. |

Something along the lines of EfM but with a different starting point each year, disclosed only a couple of weeks in advance, could be quite fun

I reckon there'd also be a market for more unsupported longish point to point races with no defined route, but guidance similar to EfM e.g. best avoid A roads and definitely don't trespass.

A bit like the TGO Challenge, whose remit is only "go across Scotland from one side to the other within a fortnight"?

Is that still going? Come to that is TGO still going? Longish unsupported point-to-point races with no defined route. Basically a Rory Coleman event? |

tgochallenge.co.uk Yup I quite liked TGO but it seemed to be a bit of a relentless Cameron McNeish vanity publication for a while a few years ago and I cancelled my subscription. The Challenge has always been a Nice If You've Got The Time sort of event for me. |

Likewise, I used to subscribe, but then cancelled as it all got a bit predictable. Bit like Trail but with long words and more them

Is Cameron McNeish a bad thing? Anyway, did anybody get a place in the devil of the highlands? |

I quite like his guide to the Munros and his little Munro Almanac is superb. I didn't really think there was a big ego going on there, but then again, I'm not a big TGO reader

Cameron McNeish is not at all a bad thing, but a little bit of diversity is better
