I just applied for the highest grade locally appointed position that has been advertised in my office for the past ten years or so, and I'm actually confident that I should at least get an interview.

Whether or not I end up getting the job (which would certainly qualify for a whole brass band and parade), this is someyhing I would never have believed possible at the start of this year, when I was convinced I wasn't even good enough for the extremely junior job I had at the time (and in fact still have) so I feel at least a small toot might be in order.

That's great Raymond. It's always worth applying - you never know where it may take you. (Two of my best career moves were the result of applying for a job I didn't end up getting, but opened the door for the another one which I did).
