I speak to Deenzy on facebook and twitter sometimes, he seems to be very political these days

LD, getting a decent trace for an OW swim depends on getting your watch arm high enough out of the water on each stroke. I usually get drivel when swimming in the sea because I do a lot of flapping about, but it's ok in lakes.

I remember the good old days of putting your watch inside the back of your swim hat to get an OW reading.

Haha, now you can create a swimming method for optimal GPS reception.

Thanks Glenn. I used to put my old Garmin in my tow-float, maybe I'll go back to that.

Garmin Track Mode First Session. Odd number laps are efforts and were about 300m. Things that would affect actual distance were moving start (and obviously finish) combined with button press timing. . Also track was busy so moved out into lanes 2-3 at certain points. Distances are pretty close, would be interesting to try in a race and it seems I may get one more before the season is out (not sure I'd be able to calibrate* before a race though as running through the start line is frowned upon).
*Needs to be calibrated with a lap or two of the track before the session (and you tell the Garmin what lane you're in). I did my calibration in lane 5. Once calibrated, should be good to go forever on that track. If you're not set to lane 1 at the start of your session, it will ask you if you want to switch to lane 1 or you can choose another lane if that's where you're running.

Not sure what happened with the first effort and recovery. Seems it might not like a fast start, lol.

Oh the map obviously isn't quite right but it shows what Garman are doing. If you choose lane 1, even if you switch to an outside lane for recovery, it treats it like you're still in lane 1 for measuring purposes.
