Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Much the same as he was saying in the '80s I expect.

So this is potentially a world first post which I may cut and paste to use elsewhere

I don't do Politics and as I sit here having just turned 49 I find myself in a quandary.

I may actually have to vote. It has taken my entire adult life to this point for a topic to be so important and divisive that I may engage in our political process.

Here is what bothers me. Life is bigger than BREXIT and if I vote tactically for what I now believe on this topic it may well mean I help get an MP who does not align with ANYTHING else I actually agree with.

However, I did consider this quite a lot, these other topics have never bothered me enough to vote before so does that mean for one election(I will probably stop again) I should vote and just vote around my beliefs on BREXIT ?

I think I this case Yes Gobi. I voted tactically fir the first time at the last election and the local Tory was ousted, will do the same again this time, as I know my LibDem vote would be a waste

At least you're thinking about it Gobi, not blindly voting for a party because you've always voted that way, or because of what you believe they may/may not do.

Personally I always vote, but I respect anyone's right to choose not to. I'll be reading the main parties' manifestos and weighing up how much I think they can deliver. I have a strong opinion on Brexit, but am not sure anyone can undo the mess it's in now.

At the moment I'm coming down on the side of choosing the least worst option. I'd love to be able to cast my vote in a more positive manner.

Brexit is a once in a generation thing; if we exit we are unlikely to go back in for a couple of decades, at least. Revoke and it’s unlikely we’ll ever leave, having not got away this time.

The ‘other’ policies can shift every 5 years, arguably we have one main party which rebuilds public services but destroys public finance and the other which rebuilds public finance but destroys public services.

Ergo, probably better to prioritise Brexit.

It's hard, isn't it!
I'd echo with what the others say and vote on Brexit. it's such a huge issue and impacts on so many areas of our lives that any other manifesto promises are basically irrelevant until we know what we're doing anyway.

My vote this time will be a vote against things rather than for anything. But in a safe seat with FPTP it regularly is.

in other news. IBS. And I've got bruised knuckles from whacking the lane ropes :-)

Understand I don't vote in ANYTHING, I have NEVER voted.

If I vote

I will only vote 1 of 2 ways so pretty much now know what I will do (if I vote). There is a single party I won't consider because of their leader and I don't want to live with being part of the reason he is in power. Strangely I can live with doing nothing and him being in power.

I do apologise for bring politics into this thread but you guys are probably the only people I can talk to about this who won't go off the reservation no matter what I decide.

In more normal news - I've been running :¬)

Votings dammed tricky business these days.

Do I vote one way and (possibly) cost my family around £7k a year but potentially align with something I believe in or do I vote the other way, keep the cash and get something I don't want.

(I think that's about as clearer description I can give without getting into actual naming and shaming)
