There seems to be a lot of knobendery goes on in AG. It's for the 'likes' and insta follows rather than anything else as far as I can see. But that's for the ones that scrape through qualification rather than the ones who actually go to race.
But I'd probably still do it at least once if I qualified just to say I had.
In multisport news, I have entered a team duathlon on 10th November. Team name - The Smell of Bikini Bottom Bracket, in a nod to both Sponge Bob square pants and the hotel

TRO Saracen
To be fair Ironman is very similar, but the competition is much fiercer to compete at world level. So the knobendery is just as (maybe more) intense but getting there is really a thing.
2 mates from my club raced the Long Course Tri Worlds in Almere, neither can get within an hour of me at Long Distance Tri and I’m not good enough to qualify for Kona. One of them had his own flag made up, name on etc, to run down the chute with. And wore his GB Tri suit at a club evening TT.....

It seems that the people who race in the AG worlds for GB aren't anywhere near the best GB athletes.
The qualifying races attract some good athletes but they don't go on to the championships for some reason....

Tro - indeed, my suit was worn 4 times
Once to test it and I wore a jersey over the top of it.
2 Worlds and 1 Euros or the other way around. It's in a drawer at home I think.
Bc - I love the qualifiers as I race the best across ages and the overall is exciting but money talks at the next level.(or you bitch about sponsors or both where you pay and bitch)

I get the feeling that GB AG athletes are generally the ones with a modicum of talent and a bundle of disposable income.
