Thanks Jason
self-assured and confident is often labelled as cocky and arrogant

I think if I was labelled one of the worlds best sprinters I'd be self assured and confident too.
I just don't think he has much camera presence really. He did look naturally estatic after the finish before he had to start chatting to reporters

To do what Cav has done, you have to be "cocky and arrogant" too compete at that left. I get what you mean though Jason, you might not want to end up stuck in a lift with him. But I think modesty is an over-rated virtue anyway, too many people hide their skills and talents under bushels and never let them come out.

I am determined to like Cav. It's nice to have a British rider in the Tour to support. Let's not forget Bradley, though. Fifth on day one is nothing to sniff at.
Lance will ride for Contador until Ventoux where he will bury his Pantani demons, but he will have serious competition. The Tour may very well be decided there. The organisers must be over the moon.

Is it just me or are the TDF riders getting better looking? (Armstrong/Wiggins obviously out of this one)

Quite interesting that a couple of fancied contenders didn't have great prologues so need big efforts in the early mountain stages as they are likely to struggle in the future time trials.
They said on ITV that Andy and Frank Schleck are joint team leaders for Saxobank - not sure how this works in practice - presumably whoever drops off the pace in the mountains will cease to be team leader?

Very true TMW. Cancellera not really a threat in the mountains, but some have lost over 40secs to Contador which will be a bugger to take back, especially with Armstrong, Leipheimer and Kloden riding in support

Good point, you'd be a brave man to bet against Astana taking the team time trial based on yesterdays performance...
