ITV4 - can't be doing with just the 7 o'clock highlights in the week (which is bedtime for the twins), yes I know the weekend it has full coverage of the stage endings. I need it as it happens and I refuse to give Murdoch my money, so this online option sounds great. Oh they've all been writing off Sastre in the "introductory" bits - not a good enough time-trialler, but he came 4th in the Giro and the second last stage being Mont Ventoux, I think a mountain man could win it. It's normally down to a time trial as a decisive stage. Instead you have that beast of a volcano to climb. I have a feeling that while I don't think Armstrong will be top 3, he might just eye that stage as his "farewell". |

Nobody thought about Cancellara in 2007's prologue either, but he hammered them then too. Check out the bit at about 55 seconds when he nearly crashes into the back of the motorbikes |

I used to love watching the TDF and watched it religiously from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s, when I moved in with my OH, stopped cycling and lost possession of the remote. Imho the ultimate race and spectacle - regret going out there when I had the opportunity and to ride up the Mont Ventoux. This could be the best TDF yet for British Isles riders (since 1987 of course!) |

Why would Cancellara have been ignored in the prologue of 07? He'd won it before

Yeah at least this year the coverage was a lot more considered, took me a while to work out Wiggins was in the last 20 riders and hadn't gone earlier before I had started watching. The prediction from Cancellara's 5th place comes from his win of the Tour of Switzerland which is fairly mountainous by all accounts. I can't see him matching the top climbers, but who knows? Also the team time trial's reintroduction must surely favour Astana. And how about the news that Vinokourov is coming back to Astana once his ban concludes? Armstrong refused to be drawn on that. It wasn't exactly the cleanest team in the race before then. |

Fantastic it's that time again, I love the Tour. Although I am an Armstrong fan, I'm not sure, perhaps he should have stayed out at the top, but I will be watching with great interest.
