i'm with you ndellar. can't see why they couldn't have allowed people to register teams in advance, even without a guarantee of a place.
making us book at midnight? if the site crashes anyway why not make it midday or any other sensible time of day?

Sounds like it's become a complete shambles. Last year was a struggle but Southville RC did get all six of our teams in. This year we only managed to get one of four in. Thankfully I'm not in this year but it still sucks. It was brilliant having 45+ of us last year, having only one team plus a few solos would not be the same, to put it mildly.
They have to change it somehow, whether that's a lottery or some other system. At the moment it's a lottery and a very frustrating and unfair one.
I believe the problem people keep having with card payments is that when you spend about £300 on the Internet when you're usually asleep, sometimes your bank's computers flag it up as suspicious. So not exactly TR's fault but a very predictable problem. Last year I had to lend one of the other Southville RC team captains my bank details in the middle of the night as hers failed as well.

Ndellar and others: What other 24hr runs would you recommend? If the TR24 organisers can't accommodate us Southville RC may have 20+ people looking for an alternative. I might even join them if there's one close enough to Bristol.

Hi Spleen, we met at tr24 this year, I was running with Gosport and camping next to you noisy lot None of our teams got in by the looks of it, although one person did get the notification screen that her entry had been successful there was no email confirmation.
All a bit of a cock up, and I'm now feeling shattered at work, and with my first ever triathlon this afternoon.
We are doing endure24, and some of the club did spitfire scramble this year, entering the day after thunder run as we were buzzing! Reports were a bit mixed about the location - on the side of a housing estate, people sitting in the park getting pissed when they arrived and dog walkers next to the campsite in the morning.

I phoned my bank yesterday to warn them that the transaction would be happening. They told me there was nothing they could do to prevent it happening again, but gave me a number for the fraud hotline.
I actually managed to block four cards last year, including a mate's and the wife's.

Tell you what. Get me an amenable landowner, a major sponsor and a large enough venue in the midlands and I'll do it myself.

Did you say Midlands? I'm sure you meant Essex.
