Just had a quick check and Everton are playing in London that weekend so depends if the game gets moved to Sunday or not. Shades-I'm not tapering,I did have thoughts today if everything goes well to change my approach and go for a faster time at Barca, but I quickly changed my mind.Fastest I will go out at is 3:30,potentially closer to 3:40 as that's the time I want, hoping then I can recover quicker if I'm not all out.

My comforts travel wise tend to be based around convenience - ie, for many years, I always tried to get a cheap alternative for parking and hotel at airports. But these days, I tend to book the nearest airport hotel and parking just to make it easy. When we went to Riga there was a deal on valet parking, so I even got that!
Trotters session was 5x3-mins with 90secs recovery. Paces for the efforts were very controlled, and I didn’t get into any races! Paces were 7:18, 7:28, 7:21, 7:22, 7:08. Again, felt like I was holding myself back, and could have gone quicker, but stuck to what the session was for. Pat on the back for me Had a nice meal afterwards and it was good catching up with people.

Ian - that's a good race plan for Barcelona. You should be able to have a strong run and minimal recovery at that pace after the training that you've been doing.
Big G - convenience for me too is important, as easy as possible for race start and finish locations.
Well done on your disciplined intervals, good you felt there was more speed if you wanted it.
Woke up with DOMS this morning from yesterday's circuits. I was expecting some DOMS in my calves but they were fine, it was my quads, hamstrings, glutes and adductors. So just about the whole range of muscles, except my calves. If I'd taken a rest day I think my legs would have enjoyed that but I ran 8 miles. Very cold (feels like -3) but better for running today as about 90% of the roads had dried up so only a couple of places I had to skirt around to avoid some ice. I had intended to run 9 miles but at an exposed big junction there was too much black ice so I turned for home.
No gym today, resting my legs 🤣

Shades Sounds like a good run and lucky with conditions,DOMS are good
Oh I agree ease for travelling and getting to races is important and accommodation near the start of finish line.
I am starting to get worried as not long for Newport and I am no where near fit enough or any distance in legs!
-3 feel like is -6C and it looks like a no run day.So will go for walk to collect my chain from Jewellers-he was repairing the claps which after 20+ years gave up the ghost.

WP - hope the roads are dry enough so you can have a little run.
It's far too early to worry about Newport yet, you've run 6 miles haven't you since your flu? I assume you mean the April race not the March one.

Shades, that was part of what made Chicago so great. Chicago starts and ends in the same park, and our hotel was a very short walk. It made logistics so easy. Not so easy for New York. Our hotel was close (10min walk) to the bus pickup, but because the finish wasn’t close, it took about an hour (walk, subway, walk) to get back, which still isn’t too bad really.
Next week’s session is 6x3-min reps, with only 60secs recovery. In fairness, yesterday I was feeling the recoveries were a bit too long, so I may go along to that one. You’ll know where the session is done. There is a straight bit of road on Brunel, and we run up and down there. Means everyone stays together no matter the pace. Good surface, well lit, not much traffic at that time.
I have binned those Streakflys though. I saw your post about repairing them, and I did consider that, but they’re just not good shoes. Really poor quality and not especially comfortable either, in my view. So after yesterday’s session I’ve today binned them, although I have taken the laces out as they’re the best part of them!

Big G - that's about as flat as you'll get in Newton Abbot. Brunel is good for training and as you say, quiet in the evenings.
I wouldn't be happy repairing shoes either, don't think I'd trust them not to break down again.
WP - 9 weeks, 8 weeks if you take a taper. Plenty time, you'll be fine and try and not to worry about it. You'll be fit enough to get round OK.

Ian - good to hear your training is going well.
Been sunny but cold here today. Looks like the remaining damp pavements/roads have dried up nicely so as long as they stay dry will be able to have a decent run tomorrow.
I still have DOMS from yesterday's circuits but expect that to be gone by tomorrow morning.
