We start with a mile and then add a bit on each week until they’ve covered 5 miles (over 8 weeks). The rule is that they talk to us whilst running so we can gauge their effort level - if they can’t talk in full sentences we slow them down, even to the degree that they might be able to walk faster than they are running.

Last Saturday they ran for between 11.5 and 15 minute miles. The helpers start at the back of the pack and gradually filter through so that after a few mins they are evenly spread through the pack and all the beginners have someone to talk to.

They are given 2 homework runs to do during the week. Last week each run was 8 minutes. We encourage them to meet up with others nearby if they can and on Tuesdays we have a ‘homework club’ if anyone wants company. We also use this as a catch up session for anyone who might have missed the Saturday morning session.

Golly! I still have runners who would be aghast at 5 miles!

That's not a great start is it Sarah! I hope you avoid the plague and Mr W recovers quickly.

It's sooo cold and breezy here. Why couldn't we have had last week's weather for tonight's race? :-(

Yes, I thought the forecast was for a gentle breeze but it is very blowy here, I expect it will be a bit gusty on the Bridge LD! :-O

Random question for my London (ish) based fetchies.

Am looking at going to the Olympia Exhibition but am struggling as to what is the best way to get there. Trains seem to be a no no due to bus replacements- so therefore looking at parking outside any zones and training in. Any help, hints or suggestions please ?.

I think Kensington Olympia is on the overground and you can access there love from Clapham Junction?? So any train line from the South / South west that goes through CJ would be worth looking at.

Evening all. Swoo, that's a pain in the moon - hope he gets over it soon.

Day one of the exhibition (the official first day, we did set up on Wednesday) and I popped in for a few hours. A print and two cards sold. :-)

I think I'm going to parkrun tomorrow but wish this ruddy cough would feck off and jump off a large cliff. It's really annoying lol.
