My wife’s line manager arranged a wee leaving do for her & a few others who’ve left the team recently, alas he never consulted anyone first & she’s on holiday and the others arenae very interested either.

Japan is very civilised for the most part and my wife and I had a nice leaving do.

Only slightly marred by our boss giving a speech at which he said he’d looked at our work over our time there and hadn’t previously realised what a large contribution we had made. Which was basically the reason we were leaving, in a nutshell!

I didn't have a leaving do - in part due to hybrid working after full wfh during the pandemic. However I did get a presentation during a whole company briefing (ok given by the guy who'd only been my boss for three weeks!) and as part of that had a £600 40 year service award and a £600 retirement award.

My leaving “do” is sadly lacking. As I don’t attend an office any more, I don’t really have much of a team (and ultimately that’s why I’m leaving, I think). I specifically requested no card or collection, and on my last day I’m meeting my boss for a coffee in the local Asda to hand over my kit. (I had suggested going in to the office, he was the one that wanted Asda).

Not even Morrisons? Stingy bugger!

I'd order a chocolate twist. Two, in fact. Stiff him for the bill.

Day 31 of retirement has so far included three return trips to the council tip with lots of garden waste. Took 2½ hours. Quite enjoyable, actually (and far more productive than any work would have been)!

I went to Specsavers. Also bought two polo shirts.
