Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I can’t wait for my final day now, I have no interest in a leaving do as I rarely ever socialise with work colleagues, also I have worked from home since March 2020 and in that time so many colleagues have left so really no point.

My last day at full time work was when I got made redundant. The last minute was as follows:- HR person said this is the agreement, check the amounts, everything OK? Looks right. Any questions? No. Goodbye. Goodbye. You go to work, you get paid, you leave. That's the deal. Anything else is a happy/lucky bonus. In a short space of time the majority of people will not care you were ever there, even if there exists anymore.
I sat on a bench outside my work. It said something like "Your smile was infectious, your laughter like a light. We miss you Brucie."
Some people clearly leave a mark. Just sayin'.
Yes, I'm suspect that was demesne who died, not just retired and yes, I bet it was from colleagues not the company, but still lovely, I thought. G

A work colleague had a word with me today and encouraged me to ask for a four day week of compressed hours. In days of yore these were not allowed, but apparently they are nowadays. If I could get paid for five days and work four that would be a huge improvement whereas I current,y work seven days but get paid for five.
I might explor this, but need to think about Mrs axe as her role is likely to be seen as five days and so is not an option.

Why are so many workplaces toxic? And why do so many people put up with it?
I've spent more time at work than with the missus of 30+ years.

Because most people are economically tied to jobs and there are few incentives for god management.

Good question about toxic workplaces. There is absolutely no reason for it! I have run a few successful businesses employing people and if they do well, they get rewarded with proper pay, proper holidays a nice work environment, proper breaks and understanding from the boss when a child is sick or a drs appointment needs to be met... I think key is to give your people responsibility and to muck in yourself where needed. I would go man the gallery for a morning because of a sick child or something. But I am an old socialist and treat everyone equally... Also in profitable years my people's contribution was rewarded with either a small bonus or a 13th month. It is important to show appreciation to their input into your business. I like to feel it isn't mine but ours.

And that included the cleaner and the handyman! They are just as important to a business as managers etc

Whereas my boos bigger boss and another manager were stood around boss’s desk next to mine this afternoon discussing filling in an hr form so stage 1 discipline of colleague due to sickness Very unprofessional
We have a lot of people who have worked here for years and others who have left and returned but it’s been shocking this year and everyone expects another shakeup within 6 months
