By the end of this week I think we'll be the 5th worst country in the world in preventing Covid deaths (assuming death recording is similar in all countries).

Ancient- I don’t believe the variant is more deadly just that it is more prevalent and that the deaths we are seeing now relate to transmission from 4 weeks ago ( Christmas and NY mixing ).

Yes, if lots more people get it then lots more will be hospitalised and lots more will die. And if it’s it’s more transmissible then lots more get it.

Hunky - 5m have had the first injection. Not quite the same as 'fully vaccinated'.

But still encouraging.

Although worrying no-one really knows if 12 weeks rather than 3 week gap improves/degrades/has no impact on overall protection.

No offence taken - but I was on a university campus, sharing catering facilities with plenty of students from China (also Italy, Spain etc), so the possibility is there. I'll never know if it was or not, but my pace graph did seem to point to something.

I didn't say fully vaccinated, I said vaccinated. And said they had some immunity. I'm well aware of the situation and will try not to bring any more positivity to this thread

*side note

Been feeling a bit grotty the last week or so. Snotty nose but no COVID symptoms. Didn’t isolate (continued to run and walk dog away from people) but did avoid seeing people eg for runs/walks (only time i go out)

Through yesterday and into last night did develop a cough. V little sleep last night due to coughing. 6am this morning booked a test. 8am test slot. Very well organised, out by 8:15am. All very well organised.

20:01 text received saying negative. 20:04 likewise for hubby (long 3 mins)

All very well done and feeling exceedingly grateful for NHS and volunteers. Also v relieved- even one day of not being able to go out was crappy
