Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

If something happened to a relative, and it had been my do, I’d never be able to forgive myself. Glad that I don’t have a big family as we never do these sort of events. Sounds like the best you can hope for is the decision being taken out of your hands.

Bazo I too am going to the football at the weekend. A friend of mine texted me to ask me to go with him. I was quite surprised, he works in the NHS and he is more vulnerable than me so I thought he wouldn't want to go. I've figured that if he can go, so can I. We will be testing beforehand and wearing masks until we are in our seats so that's as much as we can do.
Hope you enjoy the match!

I don’t understand Cambridgeshire. We have very high case numbers. We have no walk ins and all our vaccination centres are closed 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th. I’ve already offered to work 27th and 28th, as have enough staff to open at least one of them, but no, it’s not happening. There seems no sense of urgency

That is the conversation my wife and I have had. Our preference would be to postpone but know there would be issues if we are the ones who cancel.

All we can do is the LFTs as agreed and also need to get the 88yo to do her first test when we collect her.

I actually find this time of year quite stressful due to having different branches of the family and its almost impossible to have something that suits everyone.

Baz maybe have a "positive LFT" or be pinged then it's not your call?

Christmas seems to mean in my family that the busiest and least well off members of the family are expected to travel long distances and use precious annual leave to spend time with someone who is a terrible host and barely speaks.

mum will be alone again this christmas as she can't leave the cats and hasn't driven for more than 20mins in over 2yrs
it's a 2.5hr drive for me non stop and her hips would mean she would need to stop as can't sit that long without moving

I'm collecting son next friday to be with us a few days (another 6hr + round trip)

in-laws are coming up for NY

It’s 5 hours minimum for me. Of late I’ve broken the journey at a hotel midway as it helped me manage pain from driving.

I can’t afford hotels at present after 8 journeys back last year - such as being expected to be at a BBQ on a Sunday afternoon as I was in the summer and then drive back in the evening.
