I'm all about the cacti, though most of them have tragic backstories.
This was grown from a three segment cutting taken 8 and a half years ago, the original had belonged to Sam's grandparents and always flowered on their wedding anniversary in late November (coincidentally, the same time as Sam's birthday) and this spawn mostly continues the pattern. It survived a couple of weeks in a plastic bag with a bit of water in a suitcase because I brought it over as a surprise for him after a visit to his mother's.
This is George.
He was a novelty thing with a santa hat and a face with glued on googley eyes and a white beard that had been stuck on with big pins, that I was given as a secret santa gift by a colleague about fourteen years ago. Most of them had arrived in the store (Woolies) dead, but George was just about hanging in there and somehow has kept going. He has some scar tissue, for want of a better word, at the base which makes him a bit unstable, but I won't give up on him.
This is Jimeny.
He was another secret santa gift, iirc, from a different colleague in a different place, about 12 years ago.
He also has stability issues, hence the Jerry rigged support system. I think he has flowered in the past, but not for a while. The next time he falls over he's out on his ear, the wonky spikey git.
This one, like the Christmas cactus, doesn't have a name. I'm not sure why. I think he was a gift from Sam so not all that old, probably about six years.

Thanks I'm quite fond of them.
Very sadly there have been others, but they are no longer with us.
Colbert was magnificent, I think a neocardenasia, but then he started dying by degrees. I only have a few close up shots of him in his prime
There was also an aloe vera that never had a name and sort of weirdly melted after putting out a load of sprouts and then flowering. Some of the sprouts lived to a reasonable size before also weirdly melting. I don't think I have any pictures.
